How to Install Xenon Flat Fender Flares on an '08 Jeep Unlimited

Fender Flares are plastic molded pieces that attach to the existing fenders on your Jeep. These connect to the body of the vehicle with screws on the inside of the wheel well. Xenon flat fender flares can be installed on your Jeep Unlimited by first removing the existing fender flares. The new fender flares will then attach to the vehicle using the same mounting holes as the old fender flares.

Instructions

1. Remove the nut that is located behind the marker light on the front fender flare with the socket wrench, if applicable on your Jeep.

2. Push the light assembly out of the fender flare and turn the bulb socket ¼ of a turn. Pull the bulb out of the light assembly and set the light assembly aside.

3. Remove the mounting screws that are used to secure the fender flare to the body of the Jeep. These can be found under the lip of the fender flare.

4. Take the fender flare off of the body of the Jeep and then set it aside.

5. Place the new Xenon fender flare on the body of the Jeep. Insert the mounting screws and tighten them to secure the fender flare to the body.

6. Repeat this process to install the remaining fender flares on the vehicle.

Tip: The rear fender flares do not have a light assembly

1. 3. Ball Joints - Check all your ball joints, tie rods ends and wheel bearings by jacking up and securing the front of your 4x4. Grab the tire by the and at the top and bottom, and check for any excess movement by rocking the wheel in and out. Do the same by rocking the tire side to side. Even if you are not "planning" to stay the night, its good to have a sleeping bag. Its better to be over prepared than under prepared.

7. Necessities and Nature's Calling - Bring a roll of toilet paper packed in a air tight zip-lock plastic bag. In fact, ALWAYS carry a roll in your vehicle. When you need it, youâ€™ll thank yourself for putting it there.

8. Communications to the World - Pack a cell phone and give it a full charge before departing. Pack the phone car adapter or the 120 volt charger along with a power inverter. When you're remote and offroad, you can still find a signal even if its atop a ridge or up a tree. Be aware that if your are out of signal range, your cell phone will be hunting for a signal and this will deplete your cell phone's battery quicker than just sitting in standby when in range.

9. GPS Navigating - A handheld GPS is a great thing to have. Prices have come down to the point that if you spend any time in the woods or off the road, you should have one. Hand-held units are easy to operate and once you are familiar with it, it can be a valuable tool to get you places. Should a real emergency arise, you'll learn quickly how valuable they can be. Bring spare batteries in a zip-lock bag and a car adapter for the GPS unit.

10. Communications Vehicle to Vehicle / Person to Person - Handheld Family Radio Service (FRS) walkie-talkies are very handy and inexpensive. They have great range and are very portable. Whether on foot or in the vehicles, it makes good sense to carry one. And communication can add to the fun and in the case of an emergency where the you need to temporarily split up the party, you do no want to be out of touch. If you have to separate, stay in range. CB Radio's also fall in this category but are less portable (most units stay with the vehicle) and the range is sometimes shorter than FRS (and the GMRS frequencies on more FRS radios) depending on the radio and the antennas.

11. Food / Water - Bring plenty of food and drink. Even on the short trips. Bottled water, energy bars, and dried fruit, sports drinks, anything that has compact energy are good items to pack. Pack items that do not need refrigeration. Avoid salty foods such as chips and salsa, beef jerky, unless you have plenty to drink. And no, beer doesn't count. In fact it takes water to metabolize alcohol so the beer and liquor will dehydrate, not hydrate you. Alcohol is never a good idea when you have to think clearly.

12. Top off the Gas - Fill the gas tank prior to every trip. When you reach your destination, top it off again before hitting the trail. The last thing you want to do is start worrying about running out of gas while offroad. Remember the One-Third/Two-Third Rule: Use one-third of a tank to get where you are going and save two-thirds for getting out. If your fuel tank doesnâ€™t have the capacity for the offroad portion of the trip, carry extra fuel or re-think your route.

13. Transporting Gas - Always carry your extra fuel outside the vehicle. Fuel containers have vents and gasoline fumes are explosive and toxic.

14. Jumper Cables - Have a good set of jumper cables with heavy-gauge wire and quality connectors.

15. Recovery Straps and Come-Alongs - Bring at least one recover strap, preferably 2 or more and make sure you have a place to hook it up on your vehicle front and rear. Also get a good come-along if you don't have a winch. A High-Lift jack also doubles as a come-along and a jack (and lots more). Its also good to have extra pieces of recover equipment such as a D-ring or two and a tree saver. If you have a winch, make sure you have winch related equipment such as a snatch block, gloves, tree saver, Pull-Pal, etc.

16. Belts and Hoses - Check all your belts and hoses, and carry spares. The lower radiator hose is the one that usually gets damaged while off-roading, so ensure that you have a spare. Alternator/water-pump belts are the most important. Newer vehicles often use serpentine belts. While much less prone to failure, they can be difficult to change. The are also expensive, but carry one. Replacing an old serpentine belt and saving the original as a spare is a good idea.

17. Jack - Make sure you have a working jack and know how to use it. A High-Lift jack is a great universal tool and also doubles as a come-along (and lots more).

18 Spare for the Spare Tire - If you have room, carry a second spare wheel and tire. At the very least, carry a repair kit just in case. Nothing is worse than getting a second flat tire on the same trip.

19. Cold Weather Wheeling - If there is even the remotest possibility of snow, or if you will be at high altitude, carry tire chains for all four wheels and know how to install them. Donâ€™t forget the chain tensioners, which look like big rubber bands with hooks. Remember that the chain tensioners will deteriorate over time, so check them periodically for cracks and splits.

20. Tool Kit - Carry a tool kit that covers the basics of your vehicle. Put your own together, don't use one of the Christmas gift kits that are junk in a pouch. Carry quality tools.

21. First Aid - Carry a well equipped first-add kit.

Porsche started to buildup the 911 Black Edition, but is already rolling out that car’s greatest competitor: the Boxster S Black Edition. Like the 911, this one leaves a dark idea, with black finishes for not only the body, cloth top, and 19-inch wheels, but the air intakes, roll bars, and dual tailpipes, as well. The top is embossed with "Black Edition" lettering.

The same monochrome look from its 911 sibling dominates the interior. Team of firefighters found the wreckage of Sheen's Mercedes early on Friday nestling about 30 metres down a hillside on Mulholland Drive. No victim or passengers were discovered in the car, authorities said.

The search was launched after a mobile phone caller told the California Highway Patrol early on Friday that a black vehicle had gone over the side of the road, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said. Sheen reported his car stolen, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Bruce Borihanh said. "It is being investigated as an auto theft," Borihanh said.

Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck told KTLA television he "had no reason to disbelieve" Sheen's report of the car being stolen. The incident comes as Sheen faces a court hearing in Aspen, Colorado on Monday in connection with a domestic violence incident in December.

The Toyota FT-86 Will Be "Best in the World" for Car Drifting?

The car FT-86 is a joint effort with Subaru, which engineered the car to Toyota’s performance targets, and will be building both the Toyota and its own version. Subaru didn’t reveal its version during the Tokyo show but instead leaving all the glory to the Toyota. Subaru’s version is expected to have debut release next year.

It is a proper sports-car platform, though the suspension fundamentals are familiar from the Legacy. The engine is a Subaru boxer 2.0-liter four with a Toyota head unit, normally aspirated to keep the price low but with direct gas injection. The expected 160-180 horsepower, which should be able to provide decent performance because the car is light thanks to its compactness which is just 164 inches long and has sub-Audi TT, but with a comparatively stretchy 101-inch wheelbase. It’s also possible it will use aluminum in its creation.

Audi Calamaro Concept was developed by a designer Tibor for a design competition, organized by Porsche Hungary. Futuristic flying concept car looks like a cross between a speed boat and a plane. According to the designer, the shape is inspired by “the bone of the cuttlefish”.

The UK-based racing team said that this newly built NSX Racer is equipped with all the latest technology gizmos such as engine control and data-logging capabilities with GPS, Fly by Wire and live feed video while custom solutions have been adopted for for dampers and brakes.

The NSX racer will be driven by motoring journalist and TV persona Vicki Butler-Henderson alongside John Danby Racing regular James Barclay in the daytime Production race while the car's owner and Britcar regular David Fenn will drive the NSX in the evening GT race alongside Barclay.

As a parallel hybrid, the Nuvis can be driven in all-electric mode, gasoline-engine-only mode as well as any combination thereof. Engine management software automatically shuts off the gasoline engine when the Nuvis comes to a stop, improving overall fuel mileage and providing zero emissions, while Hyundai's Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) restarts the engine once pressure is applied to the accelerator pedal.

The Nuvis is notable for two reasons: First, its hybrid drive train will find its way into the next-generation Hyundai Sonata, and second, Hyundai says the concept's styling hints at what the Santa Fe's replacement could look like.

Hyundai's Hybrid Blue Drive architecture combines a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder (known as the Theta II) with a 30- kW electric motor, the last also producing 151 lb.-ft. of torque. The total estimated output of 228 bhp is put to the road via a 6-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai says the Nuvis's lithium polymer batteries, which are stored underneath the trunk floor, are more durable and space efficient than nickel-metal hydride and lithium- ion versions.

Infiniti Essence is the halo car of Infiniti that needs to define itself as a luxury sports car manufacturer. Representing the theme, "Everything I want, nothing I don't," the Essence is a front-engine, rear-drive sports coupe with seating for two. Its shape is sinewy with some interesting lines. Notably absent are side mirrors and they've been replaced with miniature cameras. The Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter V-6. It's not exactly the engine from the Nissan GT-R, but it is really close. The initial specs call for 434 horsepower with a 7500-rpm redline, but the final car promises a total output closer to 600 horsepower. Done with the addition of a hybrid drive system that integrates a 158-hp electric motor in parallel and combines the two power sources by way of clutches installed ahead of the transmission. A large lithium-ion battery pack leaves minimal space for luggage. The solution? Custom luggage from Louis Vuitton. With the click of a button the rear deck opens and out slides the custom cases. The automatic luggage ejection is neat — just what you'd expect of a concept. The Infiniti Essence is a part fantasy and part reality.

The New Mastretta MXT coupe

Sports car manufacturer of Mastretta with its 150mph MXT coupe, is the first car ever to be designed and made in Mexico.

It will makes its world debut in London this coming July 22, in its ‘penultimate prototype’ form. RHD production is expected to start this January 2009, and only limited to 80 cars per year.

As well as its impressive top speed, the MXT can hit 60mph in under five seconds and its 2.0-litre supercharged Duratec engine produces 240bhp. With the car weighing just 900kg, that means 267bhp per tonne – almost 50bhp more than a Porsche Cayman S manages.

The Mastretta MXT coupe also vastly undercuts the German coupe, with a price of £32,995. You can see it on Stand N10 at the ExCeL arena.

The first appearance of this car was in the year 2006, appearing at auto shows and events all over the world. Audi R8 is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform, as Audi has full ownership of subsidiary Lamborghini S.p.A.. Audi announced in 2005 that the name of the successful Audi R8 race car would be used for a new car road in 2007, the Audi R8, is based on the Audi Le Mans quattro car concept, which was based on the earlier Audi RSQ concept vehicle, appearing at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show and 2003 International Motor Show.

The R8 was launched officially at the Paris Auto Show on 30 September 2006. There is some confusion with the name which the car shares with the Le Mans winning R8 LMP. Originally, many thought the car would be called the R9 (as there is a gap in numbering left when Audi announced the R8's successor, the diesel-powered R10).

Pricing for the R8 model starts at around €88,000, although in Ireland, due to high VRT, the base price of the R8 is about €160,000. The base price in the US is $109,000.
